Bak’nors Rock, Trade routes and Caravans.

History:

Lord Gri'shak of Bak'nors Rock became the Lord of Bak'nors Rock after the previous owner died in battle. He had bought himself a small piece of ownership of the castle that was being constructed, using a large gem he had found during his previous time as an adventurer. Immediately hereafter he started working on reorganizing the way the castle was being built. After these reorganizations the building progressed at a faster pace and other owners awarded him for this cost saving effort by granting him an equal portion of ownership of the castle and surrounding lands.

After the completion of the castle it was obvious that the land needed better infrastructure if it would have a chance at growing into a real nation. Finances however where at a low, however, since the party spent most of it's money on building the castle. The little money there was available was used to pay the people they had in service and to create and maintain mines in the nearby mountains. Traces of coal, iron, copper and silver were found, leaving Bak'nors Rock with it's own supply of raw material. It was obvious that these materials would not grant a large income necessary for a quick rise in wealth for the population.

The only reason there really was for people to start living near the castle were the hopes of a job and a better life for them, that and everybody knew that the Lords of Bak'nors Rock looked after everybody on their lands, which was the cause of a lot of freeloaders on the lands. The party went on several adventures, accumulating wealth after each of them. During one of them they acquired a large collection of expensive gems. Now they finally had the resources necessary for the creation of the infrastructure needed for an attractive nation.

Gri'shak immediately started using these resources to construct better houses in the town, relocating the poorly constructed wooden ones with buildings made of stone. A great effort was put in the construction of a sewer system, making it possible for the town to grow larger and attract more wealthy people. Stone buildings and a sewer system, however, are not enough for a town to grow. The people need jobs.

For this Gri'shak divided his attentions on three areas, namely the army, construction and trade. He made an agreement with the government of the state of Omaru, which states that troops would patrol the lands of Omaru in exchange for being able to use it's trade routes without paying taxes for the use. An agreement was made with a trader offering him the exclusive rights to export the famous Mlap beer overseas which ensured the availability of a limited selection of boats on which members of Bak'nors Rock could travel.

Furthermore in several key cities of the region, buildings and warehouses were constructed for use by the caravans.

Special notes:

When a Town has a trade house, there will be four rooms reserved for the Lords of Bak'nors Rock. Therefore they should never have to rent a room at an inn in these cities. The rooms are very luxurious and have a floor safe in each of them. If a city does not have a trade house, these rooms will be placed under the weapons and armor stores. These weapon and armor stores (or the smithy) will also have an escape route to the sewers (if the town has a sewer system).

The salesmen of these stores are also the contact for adventurers. They have a safe in the back containing 1000 – 5000GP they may use to pay adventurers for specific quests. This money is usually reserved to contract adventurers, not employed by Bak'nors Rock, for quests that concern the safety of the nearby lands.
