Aliena Avenel’s History

Aliena is the eldest child of lord Creslin Avenel and his first wife Marschalla. Even though she’s his firstborn, Lord Avenel never loved his daughter. He didn’t want a woman as his heir, for a woman could not rule the land and could not keep the Avenel bloodline restored. He wanted a male heir and did everything to get one. Marchalla was a beautiful and lovely woman who loved her daughter very much and went through everything her husband did to her without letting her daughter know. But Aliena soon found out what her father was doing when she head her parents argue. It hurt her a lot when she heard her mother cry as Lord Avenel raped her. Aliena tried her best to love her father, but the feelings of anger increased. Everyone  in the castle knew what was going on between Aliena’s parents and rumours went that Lord Avenel wasn’t Aliena’s father, but another nobleman had conceived her. One night Marchalla couldn’t take it anymore and jumped out of the window. Aliena was there and saw her mother’s body lying on the ground near the castle walls

Not long after Marchalla’s death Lord Avenel married a new with a woman named Mertice. Aliena and Mertice didn’t get along very well. She didn’t need to expect anything from her father either, for he ignored her completely. She could go wherever she pleased, as long as she didn’t walk in the way of her father and stepmother. Aliena didn’t really know what to do with her life. To find answers to all her questions she sought her hail within the temple in the city near her home. That was the Temple of Pelor and she spent a lot of time with the priets of the Shining One.

One day the son of Lord Avenel and Lady Mertice was born. The boy was named Tharmar. Lord Avenel became calmer towards his firstborn now he had an heir. When Aliena was 12 she asked her father if she could join the priesthood of Pelor. She could makeherself useful there. Creslin allowed that, happy to be rid of her.

And so it happened that Aliena joined the priesthood at the age of twelve. She came into contact with regular people for the first time there, for until now she had lived between the castle walls and did not spend much time outside. She discovered she could be useful to common man and she tried hard to become a good priest.

Aliena was named Lightbringer in the eighteenth year of her life. She decided like many Pelorians to wander into the wide world and lend her services to whoever needed them, spread her religion and cast evil out of the world.

The first two years she travelled with a company of other priests of Pelor, until their ways separated and she hurried to the castle Bak’nor’s Rock, because she had heard of an adventuring party who strived to achieve the same goals as her. To her relief they accepted her in the group. After that she was immediately needed. Armies of undead threatened the area and to her surprise a titan and his storm giant friends joined them. That was because some of her fellow adventurers had dishonoured the titan’s temple and had his sword. They made an agreement: Gri’shak was allowed to keep the sword, as long as they could give the titan a new castle. That was not so hard. A Deathknight who threatened the area had a huge castle on a floating mountain. After several harsh battles the castle was conquered and the Deathknight was killed. A certain measure of friendship was made with the titan Polyphemeus.

After they returned to the castle they discovered a Lich had taken it. Alie went to face the undead and grabbed the orb he was holding. The whole castle was transported to a place in white substance and after her fellow companions had destroyed the Lich, Aliena sacrificed her youth to send the castle back to the material plane.

Since she was not the only one who had become older, due to the use of the Orb, the group decided to start a quest to find to fountain of youth. To find the fountain the four members had to go to the plane Arboria. And that is where they went. The quest was achieved quietly. The Invincibles fought with the followers of the Greek god Bacchus of Wine. They met a dragon named Tylinna on Mount Olympus and defeated a group of Tan’ari, including their leader which later turned out to be a big mistake. The one who could tell them more about the fountain of youth was a mage named Antonin. He lived in an untakable tower and the group accepted the challenge to reach the top of the tower. They travelled to the tower and reached it eventually. There was a forcefield of some kind around the tower and only because of a special medallion the magic users could enter. Gri’shak had no trouble enterering because he was a fighter.The entrance was full of traps and it was there that the group lost their respected member Questor the Vague of the Rising Sun. He returned as Halfling. The group had to deal with several golems and managed to defeat them.. Antonin was freed from his trance, even though he did not like it. He was trying to become a god. Still he agreed to return young age to Gramber and give Questor a new body and young age. It was no longer needed for Aliena, because she had drank several potions that had made her younger. In exchange for these deeds they had to destroy his tower once he had become a god. Ofcourse the Invincibles agreed. After having destroyed the remaining doom golems, a new surprise occurred. There was an army of Tan’aries in front of their noses. Among them was a huge devil, a Groristro, a mage and an ogre mage. Two of Aliena’s followers joined up with the heroic group. It was a tremendous battle, in which Aliena fought bravely and escaped death several times just like the rest of the party, who fought bravely as well. One morning they discovered their greatest foe, the Groristro, had passed away foolishly. When Antonin was out of his stasis, the Invincibles destroyed the tower and returned to claim the prize of their bet. Then they returned to their own plane. Aliena currently occupies herself with the village of Bree. She is the mayo there and in charge of the Church. She co-organised the big tournament Bak’Nor’s Games and went with the others to defeat the Beholder Great Eye and went North to return the stolen sword Cro’Votch.
